"If you don't go with Concrete it's your own asphalt."

American Pride Concrete specializes in the customization of driveways, patios, etc. into works of art that accommodates you and/or your family and/or business(s). We are skilled in the designing of new projects and working around and with the existing. We are highly experienced in the tearing out of the old and properly installing with the new.  With over 25 yrs. experience in the concrete industry, we pride ourselves on professionalism and extreme attention to detail.

Water Drainage

We are also reputable for the fixing of water drainage problems of all sorts. Being certain water drains away from homes and foundations properly is highly critical. In most cases we cure water problems WITHOUT having to rely on plastic piping, dependent upon many factors of course. If we must use piping, we aim to use PVC that will last versus plastic that is collapse-able, and we place piping within the rock base below the concrete versus within the concrete to avoid abnormal spider-web/jagged cracking. In some unique situations we have used and may recommend the use of self-sloping drains as seen in the picture below.

Control Joints

Control Joints are planned and professionally placed cracks which allow for movements caused by temperature changes and drying shrinkage. In other words, if the concrete does crack-you want to have an active role in deciding where it will crack, and that it cracks hidden within the straight line control joint versus visibly jagged.

We take pride in hand-tooling our control joints while concrete is wet versus saw-cutting the following day(s). This is done not only for added perfection and professionalism within the project(s), but to also cut back on concrete dust being stirred up by said saw-cutting and settling on and around said property(s) thereafter. The saw-cutting of concrete also results in chipping just outside of the joints being cut, and in our view that is unacceptable.

Consistency is Key

We also aim to ensure a precise rock base is placed to grade so our customer(s) get a true and consistent 4-6 inches of concrete throughout all areas to eliminate the risk for abnormal spider-web/jagged cracking. In addition, we always place and tie rebar together in a grid-like formation and vibrate it in as we pour for added support and insurance as we define it. We also make it a point to order all our concrete at 4000 p.s.i. with fiber-mesh added to every mix for added strength and durability as well.

We place our color in the concrete mixer at the concrete plant to mix thoroughly as its en route to your project & ready to pour upon arrival. This is critical in many more ways than one; timing is everything especially when the heat is on.

Sometimes square is not always your answer, curves and contour may very well be.

A driveway is not just a driveway in our view, its a work of art from start to finish. This property had a water easement placed on property, meaning all the water coming from neighbors from right had to cross their property and driveway to the left. We had to be 100% certain that precise water-drainage was perfected along with the final finishes. More "before" pictures can be found on HomeAdviser with the 5-star review from Craig H. to boot

The Brick apron in the picture below is not Brick, it's Stamped/Colored Concrete.

The picture below is normal concrete with no color, stamped in a Ashlar/Slate pattern with a medium grey release agent; the best bang for your stamped concrete bucks.

On occasion we head out of town to tear-out an old driveway and replace it with some brown coloring in the concrete stamped with a "Random Stone" pattern.

This project had some major water drainage issues due to the home builder constructing the back door below ground grade, while the property itself was placed on a water easement. We give the customers what they wanted, added some curves and contour, with a little landscape design that surrounds & coincides to boot.

A driveway with the retaining walls being high risk resulted in the previous concrete contractor giving homeowner a refund and voiding the agreed upon contract. We wasn't informed of such until we had successfully completed the project. If you'd like to hear more of the story from homeowner, read Judith J.'s 5-star review on our HomeAdviser page.

This Patio was constructed with water-drainage going towards the house. When the downspout drains stopped up water became a big problem pooling up around their foundation, therefore we fixed that with more room to boot. Homeowner reviewed us on HomeAdviser under Carol M.

This family was just sick and tired of their black top buckling, sinking, and creating water pooling in several places. We came in and replaced with 4 inches of concrete versus 3/4- 2 inches of asphalt. Like the saying goes "If you don't go with concrete it's your own Asphalt!"

These couple went concrete crazy on their property, but they did it right and we did too! Earned another 5-star review with HomeAdviser on this project under Marty S.

This homeowner sadly got scammed into a thin-coat overlay on his driveway that would never last with vehicles driving over, and the change in temperatures from summer to winter. Don't put your trust in an overlays no matter what, due to the fact that they will never bond to last for long! Find this homeowners review on HomeAdviser under Harold F.
